About Me

Stacey Nursing

Nursing Julian

Hi, I’m Stacey! I’m a mom, a wife, a teacher, a researcher, an aspiring nutritionist, a cook, and a friend. This is me, and this is who I am.

I am a mom.

I have five wonderful children who fill my heart and make me smile every day. From being a working mom to a stay at home mom, I have struggled with my identity, but am finally in a place where I am completely embracing motherhood, and I’ve never been happier.

I am a wife.

Married since 2005, I love my husband very much! We have a wonderful love story that exemplifies the foundation of our marriage. He has been by my side through every step of my journey into motherhood, and I couldn’t do any of what I do without him. We discuss everything, we are best friends, we are passionate for each other, and our love for each other permeates through our children, our home, and our lives.

I am a teacher.

After spending seven years as an elementary school teacher, one year as an ESL Coach, and achieving a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students (basically Language Acquisition), I quit it all to become a stay at home mom. Even though we currently send our oldest children to public school, we are always practicing homeschool philosophies because learning takes place in our household all the time.

I am a researcher.

I absolutely love, love, LOVE learning! When I am passionate about something and I want to know WHY, I love digging and digging and digging until I can satiate every aspect of my curiosity. I love using Khan Academy, college textbooks, trusted websites, medical journals, and more to learn not just the “popular opinion”, but the TRUE answers to my questions.

I am an aspiring nutritionist.

I have always thought that I was pretty healthy until I read Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and then everything I ever thought about health was turned upside down. You mean fat is good? I have to soak my grains? Fermented foods? What??? I am still learning about health and what’s best for my family, but every day I make a little more progress in an effort to continuously improve our health.

I am a cook.

I love cooking nourishing food for my loved ones that they love and that’s good for their bodies. I hate using meal plans, and I love saving money on food. So, I’ve found it best to buy in bulk and make tried and true recipes that use simple ingredients and that are simple to follow that even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy!

I am a friend.

I love sharing what I am learning with others. When I do this, it helps me to solidify my learning and guides me towards my next topics of inquiry. I love interacting with people who are like minded that can volley ideas back and forth with me. Sometimes, I feel very alone in what I believe and what I stand for, but with the support, love, and communication with my friends and family, I truly feel like I belong.

I am me.

This website is a reflection of what I have learned and what has worked for me and my family. I put it out there to organize my thoughts and hopefully to resonate with others who are going through the same things as me.
